As a mother of twins searching for daycare, I think that I was doubly concerned with finding just the right caregiver for my children. I had tried having someone come to our home for a period of time and that had not worked out. During the interview at Millie's Playhouse, I sensed a feeling of family among she and the children for whom she was caring. I also understood that this was her profession and she definitely ran her business professionally in a safe and clean environment which I felt was very important. More importantly, though, my twins seemed very comfortable in the home setting offered and so we gave it a try.
I can't say enough about what my children learned and how much fun they had in the five years they stayed with Miss Millie. Going on field trips, designing obstacle courses in the back yard and learning new songs are just a small part of the memories that she and the "daycare family" help them build. My children knew they were in for a fun day when it was a "Miss Millie" day, and yet, somehow while they were having all of this fun, they managed to learn manners, how to share, how to tie their shoes and how to pledge allegiance to the flag. All of these were invaluable to the foundation of their education. Both began Gwinnett County Public Schools far more advanced than many of their peers.
Now at the age of ten, they still beg to visit Miss Millie's and when we do, they, of course, don't want to leave. Millie, as well as the children who were there at the same time as my children, is a part of our family. Even our extended family and friends all know about Miss Millie and how important she was and still is to us. It is not often that you find someone that you freely entrust your children to...but we consider ourselves very blessed!
