Elementary School Teacher - Retired
I am reflecting on my son as I write this, for tomorrow he will be fourteen years old. Some of my most precious and fond memories of his childhood come from his time spent with Miss Millie Spillers from the ages of one ot five years old.
As a classroom teacher and early childhood educator, I realized the importance of small group settings and home daycare for young children. As the name implies, it is more natural. It is more like being at home. That is why I wanted my young son to be in a home-type setting with very low numbers.
Miss Millie and her family were a wonderful influence on my child. They are a loving and happy family, showing great affection and dedication to all the children, as well as showing them fun times by playing games, going outdoors, providing experiences with nature and other kinds of learning situations and involving them in civic minded activities. She is also very responsible; she keeps schedules with the children and in addition she is now incorporating state guidelines for study and curriculum.
I feel truly blessed that when I moved here, I saw a sign advertising "Millie's Playhouse". My son still loves Miss Millie and so do we.
Sincerely,
Fran Wilson Chase |
